C.S. Lewis once said, “…some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.” Well, I guess I’ve come to that age. I went by the library the other day to pick up a few fiction books. Yes, I know that it sounds old fashion for two reason: first, I went by a library. Something many people forget existed. And second, I checked out an actual paper book.
I’ve read many books on electronic devices, and I had a subscription to audible for over a year. Both formats have their advantages. Still, I think there is something special that happens when you hold a paper book in your hand. There is a different relationship with your brain and the story that I’m not quite sure of how to describe.
In any case, I’m going to give fiction a go for a while. This is tough for me because I love reading to “get something out of it.” I want to learn, not waste my time. Do you see the non-fiction bias I have to overcome? Why don’t you join me this summer in an epic fairy tale? Let me know how it goes.
