Our First Egg

Back in the winter, we decided to try our hand at raising chickens. We purchased six chicks (one for each family member) and kept them warm under a heat light. We built the chicken coop and fenced in a "run."

But nothing is ever as easy as it seems. The dog "accidentally" killed one, a possum and a raccoon killed two others. And we had to trap a ground hog and relocate it. But after months of waiting, we found our first egg yesterday in the coop.

Like that egg, good things take time to produce. Don't give up today on that thing you have been working on. That first egg might just be around the corner.
